KUALA LUMPUR, April 12, 2018 – A total of 16 special needs children aged 7 to 24 from Faqeh Foundation were celebrated in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program following a dental checkup at the Faculty of Dentistry, USIM at Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur.
The program organized by the Strategic Communications Center (StraComm) in collaboration with Faqeh Foundation, Executive Staff Union (KUSIMA) and Faculty of Dentistry (FPg), USIM, was also assisted by 20 secretariats to ensure the safety of these special needs children including those with autism and down syndrome.
According to Encik Asri Hj Husain, Deputy Director (StraComm), USIM recognizes that today’s university not only acts as a knowledge Institution, but also as a platform for community development at various levels of society. Attempting to reach the community through education is also expected to be able to inject awareness on the importance of education in changing the status-quo of the community.
“As a university with its niche is based on the integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledges, it is hoped that it will help to shape a balanced university student. This aspect is important in driving the country into a progressive country economically while at the same time building a community of nobility and positive qualities. ”
“In line with the main objective of the program, that is to provide awareness to the community where disabled children also need to be exposed to hygiene and self-management aspects, is also to help bridge the relationship between the community and the University and enable this strategic partnership to be optimally utilized. And most importantly these children are entertained and can understand at least the importance of keeping teeth clean”, Encik Asri added.
